I've just had an auto accident. What do I do now?

1. Remain calm and DO NOT LEAVE THE SCENE
2. Check to see if anyone has been injured
3. Call the police and if needed emergency medical services/fire department
4. Write down the following information:

Responding Officers name & contact information:
Names, addresses and phone numbers of any witnesses:
While the accident is fresh in your mind write a description of the accident, including weather conditions, direction of vehicles, speed and vehicle damage:

Note if citations were issued to other driver.
If you have a camera or camera phone, take pictures of the scene including other vehicles.
If your car is towed from the scene remember to remove any personal belongings from the vehicle.
Do cooperate with the police but DO NOT assume any responsibility or sign any written statements at the scene.
Contact the appropriate insurance claims center and your agent.
